Those whose lives and work inspire hope and healing in others are deserving of special recognition. The Hope and Healing Award was created to honor individuals who make a difference in the lives of those living with cancer.

Grace Bender is a native Washingtonian with more than thirty years experience in public relations, government relations, management and community volunteer work. She has been active in a number of non-profit organizations, both as a board member and a committee member, and has chaired various charitable events.

Mrs. Bender is a breast cancer survivor, and a member of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Advocacy Alliance Board. She has experience as both a patient and a caregiver, and is the founder of Infinisty, Inc. through which she developed mymedmanagerTM, a personal healthcare and medication organizer designed to help the patient, pharmacist and physician to work as a team when reviewing and managing medications and other health issues.

Mrs. Bender regularly speaks to groups and organizations about the importance of being your own health advocate and how to help a family member or friend navigate through a medical crisis. She also continues to help educate women as to how they can work with their doctors to stay informed about the latest treatment techniques and screening guidelines to help them remain cancer free.

The inspiration she provides as a cancer survivor, as well as her continued advocacy on behalf of those living with cancer, make us proud to present her with the inaugural Hope and Healing Award.

Your 2018 Tax Deductible Contribution will benefit Life with Cancer® and the Smith Center.
